DOT Qualified SAP – SAP Evaluation, LLC

SAP Evaluations are essential to any DOT Return-to-Duty Process. These types of evaluations can only be conducted by Substance Abuse Professionals who make recommendations for employees who have violated department of transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol regulations. SAP evaluations, also known as substance abuse evaluations, are face-to-face clinical assessments that aim to determine the type of treatment, education or solution an employee who is in violation of drug and alcohol regulations would need. Face-to-face, whether done in person or via telehealth is mandatory for any SAP evaluation. It allows the substance abuse professional to identify critical physical cues that are vital to the evaluation.
During the evaluation, the substance abuse professional will ask questions about substance use history, family history, driving history, and any other pertinent information that can help determine whether the employee is abusing or addicted to substances and at what level.
The most important questions to ask are about your drug and alcohol history. These questions will include information about the duration, frequency, amount, substance of choice, as well as emotional and physical characteristics.
